The Wood gas stove operates by supplying the primary air to the gasifier. Without a supply of air it will not work as a gasifier. This needed air can be supplied by the fan operating with two AA batteries, but the life of these batteries is estimated to be 7-10 hrs depending upon the cooking time.
For developing countries this is not possible especially when you are trying to reach out to lower income population. The cost of replacing these Batteries alone will make this wood gas stove unmarketable and inadaptable. They will never replace the batteries even after NGO gives them the stove.
Alpha looked at the possibilities of using a solar charger and other possible methods but none fitted their life style. The only practical solution was to make them self sufficient in power needs. To achieve this Alpha developed a hand operated charger where they generate their own electricity, as per their needs, at no cost. |
